Journal 18- What unsettles you?

When I tell someone that I go to Bishop Kearney the immediate response I get is “you must be rich then”, then I response “no  my parents have sent six children through catholic schools from preschool to twelfth grade they do not have money after that”. Then they roll their eyes at you and say that your life must be so much better than theirs and in a way I cannot argue because I feel 100% safe at Bishop Kearney if I was at West Irondequoit I would be scared because of all the issues they have there. The immediate assumption that children who go to catholic schools are always snotty and rude and it offends me because I believe that we have more respect because of our strict rules. We do not stick our nose up to other people because they go to public school like we are better than them. I cannot stand the assumptions and false accusations that other students and parents give catholic school students. It makes me sick to my stomach to be disrespected like that , having people make assumptions about a huge group of people that you have never met in your life is wrong, but there is nothing I can truly do about it. I have to accept that people are going to treat me differently or act different towards me because I have the privilege of going to a well known catholic school. Honestly I believe that they say these mean and cruel things because they are either jealous or are not happy with themselves so they have to take it out on others. People need to learn that making assumptions are wrong. It unsettles me that people make assumptions and are rude when they make those assumptions.
